The COMP Cams Xtreme Energy camshaft delivers enhanced street performance for Ford Small Block engines, offering strong midrange torque and horsepower gains with a smooth yet noticeable idle and responsive throttle—ideal for mild performance upgrades. Designed for street machines, it performs best with proven combinations including the Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap intake manifold, headers, and a TCI Breakaway torque converter (2200–2400 stall) paired with a 3.73 gear ratio, producing a slightly rough idle and improved overall drivability. Featuring full-size base circles, this camshaft works seamlessly with COMP Cams Evolution hydraulic roller tappets and eliminates the need for dog bones and lifter retainers—components never intended for pre-1985 applications. This camshaft supersedes part number CL31-442-8, delivering a dependable upgrade with balanced street and performance capability.
Installation InstructionsWe will be temporarily closed from Monday 10th August until Friday 21st August 2026 while we relocate to our new premises and carry out our annual stock take. Our website will remain open and you are welcome to place orders during this period. However, new orders placed between 11th and 21st August will not be processed or dispatched until we reopen.
